Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the early names under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday following the squad's ten-game without a victory start to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the team - are among the options to be evaluated by the club ownership.

The manager is presently at another club, which would create a potential obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton Town manager - who played more than 100 of appearances for the club during his playing career - is considered a strong contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club directors as they begin the search of hiring a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise candidate, even though he would be a surprising choice given he was sacked by Wolves in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed which means the club would not need to pay any buyout fee.
